Alibaba Trade Assurance Explained: Is It Worth It?

By MING Sourcing Team • Updated 2026

Alibaba's Trade Assurance is frequently cited as a buyer protection program, but there's a big gap between what people think it covers and what it actually does. This guide gives you an honest, practical assessment so you can make informed sourcing decisions.

What Trade Assurance Actually Covers

Trade Assurance provides two types of protection:

  1. Shipping protection: If the supplier doesn't ship by the agreed date, you can file a claim for a refund.
  2. Quality protection: If the product doesn't match the agreed specifications, you can file a claim. However, you must provide inspection reports from a recognized third-party inspection company as evidence.
